Mica Peak + Liberty Lake

This page is for the various hikes that start from the Liberty Lake county park. Also the Mica Peak hike starts from there but be aware that Mica peak is a common name and there is Mica Peak Washington--and Mica Peak Idaho which are separated only by the border and not only in full view of each other but look identical complete with a white radar dome. The paths shown below are accurate and the trails are very well defined even if they are invisible on google earth. There really aren't any strange turns--the entire path is "what you would naturally follow". To begin you will be parking at the county park "trails parking" and then start out and take the right where the big new sign points "Edith Hanson horse trail" and then take that up the side.

The routes shown are pretty close because I used my gps and then refined them by zooming up and using "path" on google earth to create a "KMZ' file. A kmz file can be emailed and when you click on it it automatically opens google earth and zooms up to the exact route.  In the middle section after you approach the upper ridges--you can see there are a couple options and both are good--both would be impossible to get lost. (almost)--true you could take the wrong path but you would know it pretty fast that you were going the wrong direction. When going up the main hill at the start and as you work up towards the top ridge trails--THATS the part that is sort of confusing.  I did not draw in the path coming down from the falls because of course you simply will be alongside the creek the entire time. I drank about 100 ounces of water but I took it slow so take alot of water. In desperation I drank the creekwater as I finished up and not only didnt it harm me but it was likely better than tap water.  After all--indians and pioneers drank it for centuries.

abandoned shelter up on the hill above the falls. There is also an unusable outhouse.
THIS CABIN IS WHERE MY MAGENTA LINE ENDS

You encounter this sign immediately then go right and double back and go up the hill.

Lime mid section=shortcut  magenta=the path to the falls (the path following the creek down is not shown)

lime=mid section shortcut  magenta=path to the falls on upper "loop"

I drank the water out of desperation and am alive.

The stone hut a few hundred yards north of the radar dome.

A representative photo of what the paths are like.--These humps are only in one spot to stop cars.

These are "the humps" This is the major junction--to the right--south--heads up to the dome and shack.

not air force anymore--aircraft radar.
