Hike and bike Spokanes geology history and nature. (CLICK ON THE TABS ABOVE)

Biking and hiking the Northwest and Spokane with the focus on trails and routes, nature, geology, history and rock hounding and the unusual. email update  Jeffhome10@me.com I will be living back in Spokane after wintering in Oregon.

The blog keeps the information for myself so why not make it public? Disclaimer-->My blog is stuff I do--I dont tell anyone---go do this or go do that, who knows what might happen.

I don't do "death rides of endurance". Actually the exercise is sort of co-incidental to the exploration using the bike. This blog is "old timer friendly". The "golden spokes" bike club and bike trail wiki. I like to study Indian history and they witnessed the ice age floods about 15,000 years ago which is pretty cool. They are pretty stoked about it themselves as the video below shows:  DONT FORGET TO CLICK LOWER RIGHT TO EXPAND THE VIDEOS.

With a bike you can cover more distance to get to more remote places and also make it back faster not to mention carry more gear. I am easily breakable so I don't take chances---especially at possibly getting hurt in a remote location with rain and nightfall coming. (I don't begrudge those that are younger or out for the endurance I am simply stating what MY purpose of the bike is at this stage of my life.)
  • This blog can be a good way in from the rain for those that are older or want to smell the roses and like bicycling but possibly notice that most trips they are on everyone seems out to prove something. So if it seems like your shut out of bicycling on the sidelines---------come aboard.
  • The routes are shown--its assumed the person can get to the starting location.
  • Feel free to email questions or to ask for kmz files: jeffhome10@me.com  509-202-3788
  • Watchout for your safety and don't under-estimate dangers such as moose, bears or banjo boys.
  •  Another issue is property and people turning their dogs loose--stuff like that. If a person goes on a bike or hike un-armed they do it at their own risk. Also read up on how to survive animal attacks ESPECIALLY MOOSE. Mica peak or Mt Spokane read beforehand what takes place when you confront a moose in his living-room. They dont "skitter away". A bicycle moves silently on paths-I can tell you its easy to startle them.
  • When riding the rails to trails that are not paved if you are riding on railroad rubble--the small sharp rocks are punishing to the tires and "tenderize" the rubber and bust the cloth cords inside the tire. So just a warning that if you ride on railroad rubble the sharp impacts break up the long molecules of the rubber just like a meat tenderizer hammer breaks up the muscle fibres of meat so that tire can look hardly worn but it could be mush that could blow at any time. If you do high risk high speed riding down hills you are better off using spare tires for rubble riding--either that or replace your tires often if you can afford it. Me myself im born again--I thought I was pretty wise about bike tires--well I wasn't.
